David Belcastro, CPA, CA

When he was in Grade 10, CPA Ontario’s slogan “Your guide to ruling the world” sparked David Belcastro’s curiosity about the profession. That curiosity led to his current role as Senior Manager at Doane Grant Thornton, where he leads key initiatives that enhance audit quality, efficiency and innovation. His development of sector‑specific audit methodologies has improved compliance and reporting standards at the firm.

As a sessional instructor at Ontario Tech University, David encourages his students to be curious, which earned him the 2025 Instructor of the Year Award for the faculty of Business and IT, as voted by his students. Driven by a strong sense of social responsibility, he serves as Treasurer for the Peel Music Festival, is involved with the Doane Grant Thornton Charitable Foundation and has volunteered with CPA Ontario’s tax clinics.

For David, becoming a CPA was the perfect way to combine analysis with leadership to make a meaningful impact. He is excited to help prepare the next generation of CPAs to take the lead in a changing economy and a changing world.
