Emma Schmelzle Shantz, CPA

Emma Schmelzle Shantz grew up in a household full of music and performance, and she credits that curiosity and creativity with leading her to public accounting. Today, Emma is a Manager in Crowe Soberman LLP’s Audit & Advisory Group, where she is known for technical excellence and her positive influence on workplace culture.

Deeply passionate about building a more inclusive profession, Emma is co-chair of the firm’s Culture and Engagement Collective. One of the group’s initiatives is She Counts, a mentorship network for women at the firm. Under Emma's guidance, it has grown into a trusted forum where women at all levels can connect, share experiences and receive mentorship. In 2024, Emma received the firm's Overall Superstar Award in recognition of her professional excellence and advocacy for equity, social justice and inclusion.

Emma is excited to see a new, diverse group of young CPAs joining the profession and is proud of her own work increasing their sense of belonging and amplifying their voices.
