Matthew Pe Benito was inspired to become a CPA after his first accounting course in Grade 11 showed him the power of combining analytical thinking with teamwork and leadership.

As a Manager in National Assurance Services at Doane Grant Thornton, Matthew is a driving force for innovation, efficiency and meaningful change. He brings a genuine “helping‑first” philosophy to his work, championing digital tools and collaborative approaches that empower colleagues across the country. He is valued by his peers not only for his technical insight, but for the encouragement, curiosity and optimism he brings to every project. From his early days as a co‑op student to mentoring aspiring CPAs as a CFE coach, he has always believed in supporting others.

Matthew is the Head Coach of SKY Volley, Windsor’s high‑performance volleyball club, where he helps young athletes discover their potential and pursue post‑secondary opportunities. In the office or on the volleyball court, Matthew believes that true leadership is about inspiring growth in others. For Matthew, being named an Emerging Leader reinforces that those efforts make a difference.
