Andrea Freeborough, FCPA, FCA

Once named one of the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining, Andrea Freeborough’s career has been marked by technical excellence, strategic leadership and a commitment to mentorship. As Executive Vice-President and CFO of Kinross Gold Corporation, she oversees global finance, IT, supply chain and sustainability functions and has helped lead the company through complex transactions – from billion-dollar acquisitions to divestitures and financings. Andrea’s expertise honed during her early years at KPMG positioned her as a thought leader during Canada’s IFRS adoption and helped shape industry standards. She has also contributed to the development of global gold mining metrics now widely used across the sector.

Beyond her corporate achievements, Andrea has served on the board, fundraising and finance committees of Dress for Success Toronto and continues to advocate for diversity and inclusion through mentorship and DEI programs at Kinross. She advises future CPAs to shape a career that excites them, to be curious and adventurous and to enjoy the journey.
