James Blackwell, FCPA, FCA

James Blackwell’s 40-year career in public accounting and consulting is marked by leadership, vision and a deep commitment to supporting people. As Office Managing Partner at BDO Canada, James played a key role in the national restructuring that shaped BDO into the firm it is today. Elected to BDO's National Policy Board at just 39 years old and later serving as Chair, he has helped steer major mergers and introduced programs like the Wealth Advisory service and the Rainmaker Academy, a sales development program for BDO partners and senior managers. Since 2017, he has led his own consulting firm, advising clients and contributing to the profession.

James has generously donated his time and energy to the community and the CPA profession. From serving as an adjudicator on CPA Ontario Tribunals for nearly two decades to supporting KidSport Orangeville and local charities, his focus has always been on public protection, fairness, compassion and helping others succeed. James’ story is one of lasting impact.
