Michael Paterson, FCPA, FCA

In his three decades at PwC, Michael Paterson has helped some of Canada’s leading companies navigate complexity and foster confidence. An influential thought leader about technology’s impact on the profession, Michael has also shaped auditing practices for PwC across Canada and around the world.

His leadership was especially critical during the COVID-19 pandemic. As National Assurance Leader, he prioritized the safety of his teams while maintaining high standards of client service. Appointed Chief Risk & Resilience Officer in 2022, he focuses on building trust and the high standards the profession stands for.

Michael is also a deeply engaged mentor, including his support for PwC’s Women in Leadership and Network Leadership Development programs. Active in his community, he prioritizes serving others and sits on the board of the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation. Described by his colleagues as someone who leads with a balance between his heart and mind, Michael relishes the opportunity to guide people through challenging situations and measures his success by the growth of those around him.
